Principles of Reiki
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Just for today, I will be kind to others.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
The principles of Reiki were laid down by Usui Sensei. The principles were meant for his disciples to follow which would act as the guiding force in their life. These principles are simple yet effective for anyone to find inner peace and happiness.
Touch is something that holds the key to Reiki. It is the ancient Buddhist form of healing rather than merely a healing touch. This form of healing makes use of directing cosmic energy through one's mind. The best thing about Reiki is that it never has a negative impact.
According to Dr. Usui, "The secret of inviting happiness, the spiritual medicine for all illness, is that just for today, do not get angry, do not worry, express your thanks, be diligent in your work, and be kind to others. Do so and repeat them in the mind at the beginning and the end of each day.”
This essentially is an implication that one can invite happiness (Reiju, the endowment of power or the opening of the energy path in a student by the guru) by valuing today. The past has to be forgotten and future should not be worried about. One has to lead one's life in the present. There is also an utmost necessity of realization that anger apart from other selfish emotions like resentment, hatred and envy are harmful. It is therefore advisable to avoid such emotions. Do not worry. Do your best. Believe and trust in the universe. Express your gratitude. It is easy to lose ourselves when we forget the gratitude for being alive.
Its much more important to learn from what we do than the action itself. "Be kind to others" also makes you take good care of yourself. There is absolutely no difference between self and others in a universal dimension. These teachings are meant for anyone to follow irrespective of their religious beliefs. |
